Model raped and beaten by fake fashion agent in terrifying six month ordeal

A model was raped and beaten for six months after being kidnapped by a fake fashion agent.

The 23-year-old former Miss Sweden contestant was only freed from the man’s flat in Milan after neighbours heard her screams.

The unnamed model is in hospital suffering from shock and malnutrition.

Police have arrested a 42-year-old man who two years ago was released from jail after serving time for kidnapping and raping a woman, Italy’s La Repubblica newspaper reported.

The model, who has not been named, left Sweden for Italy's fashion capital last September in search of work after taking part in a global beauty pageant.

Once there, she was contacted through Facebook by a 'fake agent' who convinced her to stay with him while he helped her to find work, the newspaper said.

He then forced her to contact her friends and family through Skype and Facebook to convince them she was safe.

He then repeatedly beat and raped her for six months before her ordeal ended this week, it has been reported.

The Swedish embassy in Rome said it was aware that a Swedish woman had 'been subjected to a violent ordeal' in Italy.

Milan is internationally recognised as one of the world's most important fashion capitals, alongside Paris, London and New York.

Fashion designers including Giorgio Armani, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana and Prada launched their careers in the city.
