Angela Kelly, 57, a former over-50s All England
Badminton mixed doubles champion. She now goes to the mall in her trolley for leg support. Not because she got into a sport accident, but because she wore high heel shoes for a very long time.
Keep a beautiful rosary with you always --
Angela thought it was nice to wear high heels; doing so adds up to her height and boosts her confidence. Every day in her teens and 20s, she opted to wear her three-inch stilettos and high platforms.
In her 30s, she began to feel pain on her right knee, but she continued wearing high heel shoes and taking pain relievers. Her situation worsened four years later when she first
felt the horrible pain on her knee. Angela had her legs checked; doctors discovered there
was almost no cartilage left in her knee and she needed a surgery for a titanium knee replacement. Aside from this, Angela got her bunions removed surgically, and she claims that this is because of her wearing tight, and pointy stilettos.
Most women can relate to Angela' s situation.
According to studies, women who walk in high heel shoes have their knees in such an awkward position, with their joints bent like that of damaged, old ones which result to having osteoarthritis. According to a recent survey, more and more women feel more feminine when they wear heels; some consider themselves stylish, while the others think they look slimmer when wearing high heel shoes.
Doctors advise women not to wear high heel shoes on a regular basis, as this might cause back, hip, or even neck problems when the uneasiness gets worse.
Doctors suggest you wear flats or shoes with low heels or practice being barefoot when it is possible, so you can correct your posture that got misaligned from a day's worth of wearing high heels.-Catholic Online
Please fashionistas, wear heels with caution. Avoid standing in heels for so long and ensure you carry along flat shoes/slippers with you always so you can relieve your legs at every slight chance you get. Kapish?
