Parents are pissed at Lego for offering 'beauty tips' to 5-year-old girls

Beauty tips are now available for 5-to-12-year-olds, courtesy of Lego.

Some parents are less than thrilled with the company for a magazine spread titled "Emma's Beauty Tips" in the March-April Yellow Brick edition of Lego Club magazine.
The spread, below, suggests hairstyles to readers based on their face shapes.

"My little girl, the shape of her face, and whether her haircut is flattering are none of Lego’s concern,"
A parent wrote, "It wasn’t even her concern until a toy magazine told her to start worrying about it."

Many could not wrap their heads around Lego's decision to include the spread.

Dear LEGO: Girls do not need to read beauty
tips in the LEGO Club Magazine. This spread
embodies EVERYTHING... http://t.co/

Nonononono. Damn it, LEGO. Girls don't
need another source of beauty tips, let alone
from you. http://t.co/HK64w4IZR7

Appears that @LEGO_Group has reached a
new low with "Beauty Tips" being offered to
five year olds. BEAUTY TIPS. AT 5.

Remember when #Legos didn't have a
gender and were just awesome? "Beauty

But Michael McNally, senior director of brand relations at Lego Systems, Inc., expressed his regret in a statement provided to Mashable:

We appreciate the reader comments on the
latest LEGO Club Magazine. Our Club team
is always striving for new ways to engage
with LEGO fans based on insights we gather
from our Club audience. One particular thing
that readers asked us to include was an
'Advice Column.' In the most recent
magazine, we attempted to deliver against
this request by elaborating on a current
LEGO Friends story line. We sincerely regret
any disappointment it may have caused. We
value this feedback and have already shared
with the LEGO Club team in order to
positively impact future stories.culled

I think Lego should stick to toy making 'cos giving a 5 year old makeup advise is wrong, #MyOpiniontho. What do you think?
