Mike Okiro Honoured By Beauty Pageant, Fashion Organisers
The chairman of the Police Service
Commission, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro, has
been honoured as the grand patron of the
Association of Beauty Pageant and
Fashion Exhibition Organisers of Nigeria
(ABPFEON).
According to leadership, Delegates from the organisation, led by the Matron, Princess Sandra Oladele, and its President, Hon. Ejiro Okpihwo, while extolling his virtues during a courtesy visit to the commission on Tuesday, 3rd March, 2015, expressed delight on the
achievements and contributions of Sir
Okiro towards the continuous existence of
Nigeria as one indivisible entity. The
beauty queens also expressed their desire
to collaborate with the PSC to encourage
youths to engage in activities that would
take their minds off crime such as fashion
designing, modeling and other social
activities.
While presenting the certificate of Grand
Patron to the chairman of police service
commission, the president, Hon Ejiro,
promised to saddle the ship of the
association with integrity and hard work
as he pleaded with the commission to
give them the necessary support to
enable them sanitize the pageant industry
and build a formidable association that
will unite one of the oldest entertainment
and youth empowerment platforms in
Nigeria.
While accepting his nomination as the
organisation’s Grand Patron, Okiro
enjoined the group not to engage in acts
that will be inimical to the peace of the
country. He asserted that the combination
of beauty and brains should be geared
towards developing their immediate
environment.
He further pledged his support and
thanked the organization for considering
him as the Grand Patron. The former IG
of police promised to identify with the
beauty Queens especially in their
individual projects and events. He started
his speech with a minute’s silence for late
beauty Queen and MBGN model, Esther
Kanu, who passed on recently.
The association’s constitution was
requested for by the police service
commission for endorsement and
disciplinary approval to enable the
organization act on tenets and the laws
governing it. The 10 selected queens,
who represented the national brand were
admonished to take advantage of the
opportunity the crown has afforded them.
