Fashion forward: New necklace could be latest way to track calories

Some good news for fashionistas struggling with weight gain....

Normally used for fashion, necklaces
could soon become the latest high-tech way for the health-conscious to keep track of what they eat and drink.
Researchers in Los Angeles say WearSens has a sensor that uses vibrations to measure how much people eat and drink.

Engineers at UCLA tested the necklace on 30 people, and researchers say it's up to 90 percent accurate. It can even give people suggestions if they miss important nutritional marks during the day.

The necklace also counts how many times people swallow during meals and how much time they spend chewing. It allows users to set goals for how much they want to eat and drink on a smartphone app, and the app sends users an alert if they overindulge.

The necklace is still being finalized, but developers say it could be available later this year. Researchers said they also hope the necklace can help people quit smoking and help patients keep up with taking medication.- Wral.com
