Beauty Tip- 4 Steps to Looking Great in a Hurry

Sometimes you need to leave home in a jiffy and just five minutes to do your makeup might seem too much. Here are quick steps to fix your face when you are running out of time, no one would even know you were in a hurry.

Step.1 -Concealer- Use a concealer that reflects light and brigthens the skin. Find one thats easy to apply and start your process by dabbing some below your eyes and nostrils and gently rub it in.

Step.2 -Mascara- A layer of mascara to you eyelashes adds a pretty dramatic effect. Start at the root of your eyelashes and zigzag the brush out to the ends for a beautiful, natural look.

Step. 3- Blush- Try a pink cream blush for a healthy and natural look. Apply just a little below your cheekbone and rub it upwards and outwards toget a beautiful glow. A little pink cream blush will give you a fresh, radiant look like no other cosmetic can.

Step.4- Lipgloss- Last but not least, lip gloss. A shiny lip gloss totally completes your look. Gentle pink tones and nudes are perfect for during the day.

South Africa to grow grass for recyclable textiles

An initiative is launching this month in
South Africa to grow a new type of grass
that can be used to create zero-waste
recyclable textiles.
Miscanthus is a new fully recyclable man made
Cellulose Fibre based on Miscanthus Grass

The project has been initiated by
sustainable textile and fashion company
Dutch aWEARness, which specialises in the
closed loop supply chain. The new Miscanthus (elephant grass) developed by the University of
Wageningen in the Netherlands contains a
high amount of cellulose, which can be
used to create viscose rayon - a sustainable
alternative to natural materials for textiles. After use, it can be converted back to cellulose.
In addition, the material is said to have a very limited impact on the environment, is easy to grow in a variety of climates, and can be recycled over and over again.
The 'Grass for Sustainable Growth' will kick off in Johannesburg, South Africa this month, with the planting of 1500 hectares of Miscanthus in South Africa's Eastern Cape. The project fits within the "Black Economic Empowerment” initiative of the South African government and is supported by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. The INGCA consortium – comprising Dutch aWEARness and the South African companies Ekcon and AlternaFruit – is behind the planting, and provides additional employment and good working conditions for the local farmers. The profits are entirely reinvested in the region. Dr Precious Mioloy-Motsepe, chairman of African Fashion International, will be invited to become the ambassador of the project.

Fashion Designer Receives Backlash For Sending Models Down the Runway in Blackface Makeup That Sparkles

Blackface, which one Italian designer thought
would complete his black-themed presentation
at Milan Fashion Week backfired against him.
Claudio Cutugno came under fire for sending models down the runway with their faces painted black and topped with a layer of glitter. The backlash ensued the same week that Fashion Police ’s Giuliana Rancic made
an insensitive remark about actor Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks.

More about Blackface Makeup
Blackface—is a theatrical makeup popular in the 1800s that proliferated stereotypes of African Americans—is an all too common faux pas in the fashion industry. Repeat offenders include international editions of Vogue and
fashion magazine editors . But it happens elsewhere as well, especially in Hollywood. While blackface was more common in previous decades , films released recently have also featured actors in the makeup. In Thailand,
Dunkin’ Donuts used a model in blackface to promote its Charcoal Donut.

Cutugno however, has apologized to those he offended, saying that it “had nothing to do with Afro-American culture. I would have never thought someone could have [found] the
makeup offensive, otherwise I would have never used it.”-takepart

I guess its safe to say not "All that glitters is Ok"

Meryl Streep’s Three Daughters Star In A Fashion Campaign That Defines ‘Effortlessly Cool’

It isn’t surprising when celebrity’s kids or
brothers and sisters try to break out on their
own by going into acting, singing or modeling,
but it still fun to see.

The latest celebrity spawn fashion campaign is better than all of the rest, because instead of featuring one.celeb kid, it features three. & Other Stories‘ latest fashion campaign features Meryl Streep‘s three daughters, 31-year-old Mamie, 28-year-.old Grace and 23-year-old Louisa Jacobson.Gummer , Just think about all of the good genes in that photo for a second. & Other Stories is H&M’s cool sister label, and
this campaign is for their Co-Lab collection
with LA-based accessories and bag
designer Clare Vivier . (The collection will be
available online and in stores March 5.) The
trio were the perfect fit for the campaign.
According to Harper’s Bazaar UK , Clare says
that the sisters “are [her] dream customers –
creative, hardworking, stylish, city girls.”
The campaign photos show the sisters
modeling in different sunny Los Angeles
locations. In one pic, they are standing in
front of an auto body shop and looking like
the definition of stylish, laidback California
girls. They’re wearing light jeans, loose
blouses, flat shoes and modeling the bags. All
three have gorgeous slightly tousled blonde
hair that would even make Blake Lively
jealous. It’s also easy to see the resemblance
to their mother. It’s more than just the blonde
hair and facial features, they all have that
captivating presence Meryl has. You look at
the photo and wonder how cool it must be to
be one of them.

Khloe Kardashian or Nene Leakes To Replace Kelly Osbourne on Fashion Police?

Just 48hours after Kelly Osbourne quit Fashion Police, there is a strong rumor that E! might be considering Nene Leakes or Khloe Kadashian as possible replacement. Read what a source told Us Weekly.
         "[It's] "very possible" that [Kardashian]
will join the show. "She was supposed to
do it last time and passed. She may
consider doing it again but the offer would
have to be really high," the insider says.
"It's a lot of extra work for her."

I love Khloe but that aside, I think Nene Leakes is better at analysing than Khloe Kardashian. Leakes has appeared on FP in the past and her analysis during the show was unbiased and accurate. I vote Nene Leakes, who do you prefer?

Omoni Oboli Stuns in a Dress by Ave

Last year, the beautiful and talented actress came under serious criticism for the cleavage showing dress she wore to Aso Rock for the premier of her movie, "Being Mrs Elliot". Having learnt her lesson, the beautiful actress has sizzled yet again in a stunning sleeveless lace dress with an open back at a recent event took place at the transcorp Hilton Abuja. She shared
the photo on instagram.

She looks stunning! But the black purse matching with black shoes is a no for me. Its a season of trying out bold colors, c'mon. I suggest a turquoise blue purse... what do you think? Suggest yours....

Dbanj Rumored Girlfriend, Bonang Mathaba rocks a #2.4m Cartier Jewellery Last Night

The popular OAP also know as Queen B was spotted last night at the Metro FM awards draped in ultra luxurious Cartier jewellery and fashion accessories.

Accoding to Sunday World, Matheba just broke local records when she became the first local girl to model Cartier Products on the red carpet in a partnership deal.

She looks beautiful and elegant. Whoever dressed her up for the red carpet did a good job. The dress is a perfect fit, minimal accessories, hair and make-up, perfect. I rate 9.5 on a scale of 1-10. What would you rate her?

Outrage Over Magazine’s Emaciated ‘Corpse’ Model

A Danish fashion magazine has made a
public apology after running an image of
an underweight model in its latest issue.

The photo in Cover magazine started
trending on social media via the hashtag
#covergate and spawned a Reddit thread
called “ Corpse or model? ,” in which
thousands expressed their outrage over the
model’s emaciated frame.

Cover magazine’s founder Malene Malling
apologized on the magazine’s Facebook
page, calling it a “sad day.”

“I have not lived up to my responsibility
as a publisher, woman and mother and am
truly sorry,” she wrote.
“At Cover we have, in all the years, worked
to show an expanded beauty ideal,” she
said. “[To] show that you can be beautiful
in various ages and various sizes. We have
always sought to work with healthy girls.
Just two months ago we had plus-size
model Diana Graham on the front of the
Cover, so it is certainly a subject we focus
on.”

The fashion industry is frequently
criticized for featuring underweight
models in runway shows, magazines and
ad campaigns.
In 2010, French model Isabelle Caro died
due to complications from anorexia
nervosa.

She famously posed naked for an Italian
ad campaign called “No Anorexia” when
she was rail-thin, to highlight the
dangerous and deadly effects of eating
disorders.

The pictures of these models churn my stomach. How do they even employ them as models in the first place? I don't get it.

2 women are behind the viral dress that has everyone confused

Serah Weichel above and Caitlin McNeill

Two women are behind the viral dress that
has everyone confused . Here's what they
told us.
The picture was initially posted on Tumblr
by a 21-year-old singer named Caitlin
McNeill who lives on the tiny Scottish
island of Colonsay.
In a telephone conversation with Business
Insider on Thursday evening, McNeill
explained that the dress in the picture was
worn to her friends' wedding. Some
people see the dress as it appears in the
photo as white and gold, while others see it
as blue and black .
The dress was worn by the bride's mother.
McNeill and her friends first realized
something was different about the dress
when the mother sent her daughter the
now-famous photo.
"What happened was two of my close
friends were actually getting married and
the mother of the bride took a photo of the
dress to send to her daughter," McNeill
said. "When my friend showed the dress
to her fiancé, they disagreed on the color."
The bride then posted the picture on
Facebook, and her friends continued to
debate the color of the dress.
"All of our friends disagreed," McNeill
said.
After seeing the Facebook thread, McNeill
decided to share the picture on a fan page
she has on Tumblr dedicated to a woman
named Sarah Weichel. That was where the
dress went viral.
Weichel is a talent manager who
represents several YouTubers including
Hannah Hart.
Weichel told Business Insider her phone
began blowing up on Thursday after
McNeill's post started going viral.
"The crazy thing is, I actually have nothing
to do with the post," Weichel said. "It's
literally just a fan account of me, so my
name and my photos are all over the
account. I actually don't have anything to
do with it ... But I have been getting a ton
of phone calls and emails tonight."
The situation was even weirder for
Weichel because also on Thursday her
client, Hart, was just announced as the
star of a new television series .
"Between that announcement and the
dress thing my phone has been going
crazy with congratulations and, 'What the
hell is happening?'" Weichel said.
For Weichel, there is no question about
what color the dress is.
"Black and blue of course!" she said.
Weichel put Business Insider in touch with
McNeill, who said one of the oddest parts
of the experience had been watching
celebrities share her picture.
"I thought my followers on Tumblr would
maybe have a good reaction, but I never
would have considered that Taylor Swift
and Mindy Kaling would be tweeting about
it," McNeill said.
Of all the celebrities who became
interested in her post, McNeill would like
to meet Swift.
"Oh my god," she said when we asked
about Swift. "That would be something."
McNeill plays guitar and sings in a band
named Canach that plays what she
described as "traditional Scottish folky
music." Her band played at the wedding.
She actually saw the dress in person and
told us definitively what color it really
was.
"I got to the wedding and the mother was
wearing the dress," McNeill said.
"Obviously it was blue and black."

Beauty Tip- Ways to Care For Your Skin This Hot Season

The month of March has ushered us officially into the Heat Season, brace yourselves beauties, hot days are upon us! I remember growing up in Jos, Plateau state, years back and how we viewed Fans and ACs as home decor items, hot or cold season, they were hardly ever used. But then I got a job and was posted to a North Western State sharing a border with Niger Republic, HOLY LASMOKEY! The heat was insanely out of this world. I experienced first hand and also for the very first time, Prickly Heat! I practically begged to be posted out of there and was lucky to get posted to the FCT. Did I just say lucky? Hmmm.... Coming to Abuja was a great relief, but due to the sensitive nature of my skin, I experienced again for the first time, Heat Rashes! It was a really scary moment in my life. The rashes were so severe that I contemplated screening for HIV just to be sure (Lol). I have since found ways to cope with the heat and so today i'm sharing with you some tips on how to care for your skin this Hot season.

  • Sunscreen- Who says sunscreens are meant for only the whites? We take for granted the nature of our dark coloration especially with the fact that we don't always see the effects of sunburn on our skin, that however doesn't imply we blacks are exempted from the damaging rays of the sun. The sun's ultraviolet rays can damage anyone's skin in as little as 15 minutes and this apply to skin of all colors. Sunscreens come in many forms, including creams, lotion, gels, ointment or spray so whichever you decide to buy, make sure to choose a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects against UV-A and UV- B rays and has a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15. While a pricey brand might feel or smell good,  it is not necessarily more effective than a cheaper product. Incase you have problems finding out the best sunscreen for your skin, dont worry, i will do a post on sunscreen within the week.
  • Allow your skin to breathe- Apply make up as little ad possible this season so your skin can breathe.  When the chemical on you cosmetics meets the sun, the result can be damaging. When at home or driving long distances give your skin a break, it will thank you for being free.

  • Wear Protective Clothing- When leaving the  house, go along with sun shades, a hat or  an umbrella. Sun shades protect the sensitive skin around the eyes and in turn prevents it from wrinklind and premature aging, hats and umbrellas on the other hand protect your skin from that damaging rays of the sun

  • Stay out of the Sun between the hours of 10am and 3pm. Sun rays are most damaging to your skin at these times so avoid it and if you must, dont be under it for so long.

  • Drink plenty of water- Dehydration causes your skin to lose its glow, So drink plenty of water to maintain a radiant skin. Also include healthy fruits and vegetables in your diet.

What other ways do you care for your skin in the hot season, Mind to share?
