Merriam Webster Adds Jeggings To The Dictionary, And 5 other slang
Just like me, you thought the word jeggings was an English word right? Well, its a slang... Until recently sha. Read this..
For better or for worse, you can now find
jeggings listed in the JE-JI section of the
dictionary. As of this week, Merriam
Webster added jeggings to its unabridged
version, the New York Times
reported. Though the jean/legging hybrids
might not be as popular as they once were,
they’ll now be immortalized forever.
Jeggings isn’t the only new word to hit the
dictionary this week, joined by a slew of
others that highlight our internet and
social media-centric world. Emoji, meme,
photobomb, twerk, WTF, and NSFW also
now take up prime page real estate. Sadly,
however, the word-picking folk missed a
handful of fashion and beauty related
slang terms definitely worthy of dictionary
status such as "On Fleek", "Selfie Stick", "Belfie" and "YAASS".... Click here to find out the meaning of these words.

Bruce Jenner Rumored To Appear On Upcoming 'Vanity Fair as a "She"
Huge news for the Kardashian-Jenner clan,
y’all, and it has absolutely nothing to do
with Kylie Jenner’s lips. According to
multiple sources, Bruce Jenner might
appear on Vanity Fair ’s cover , which will
supposedly be shot by arguably the most
famous photographer alive, Annie
Leibovitz. If the rumors of this cover are
true, I am so excited for him, and for all of
us, really. Ever since he opened up about
his transition and lifelong struggles with
gender identity, I’ve been waiting
patiently to finally meet ” Her .” And Vanity
Fair a la Liebovitz is pretty much as grand
a way to make an introduction as there
is. This Vanity Fair cover would be the 65-
year-old’s first photo shoot presenting as a
woman, and it is rumored to be slated for
release later this summer.
Bustle has reached out to both Vanity Fair
and Jenner’s reps to confirm, but have yet
to hear back.- Vanity Fair
Is Niger Republic The Fashion World's Emerging Capital?
There’s an international fashion show that occurs just once every two years but has grown into a magnet for both established international designers, like Yves Saint Laurent and Jean Paul Gaultier, as well as aspiring local up-and-comers. No, it doesn’t take
place in Milan, Paris or even New York City .
Welcome to Niger — the land better known for battling Boko Haram and al-Qaeda than grooming fashionistas . Known as the Festival International de la Mode en Afrique (or FIMA), the event — its catwalks and accompanying trade show — now attracts 60,000 visitors, double the attendance it had before moving to
Niger’s capital city, Niamey, in 2007. It was pioneered by African fashion legend Alphadi, who’s known for his fusion of Saharan and Western styles, and has stretched to four days (from just one) to showcase young global designers, the next generation of African
talent, established names and a final day for music.
(This year’s show in November is set to feature
Nigerian Afro-pop singer Yemi Alade.)
For tomorrow’s de la Renta or Versace, though, this festival has become a crucial space for Niger’s local talent to get a spot in the limelight. Fashion schools don’t exactly abound in this West African country,
after all, although festival organizers are looking tochange that. In fact, they’ve just broken ground on a new school, says festival general manager Moulaye Seidnaly. And while the country still faces plenty of development woes, its little-festival-that-could is “weaving together a peaceful Africa with education and
industry,” Seidnaly says, with the hope of pushing forth change as it promotes local goods and designers.-culled

Beauty Tip- The 8 Worst Things You Can Do to Your Skin
Scary truth: You can wreak a lot of havoc on
your own face. Scarier truth? You can even
do it in the process of trying to improve the
quality of your skin.
For some tough-love insight, we looked to
two of our most trusted experts, celebrity
esthetician Renée Rouleau and
dermatologist Rachel Nazarian, M.D., at
Schweiger Dermatology Group, to spell out
the most common bad habits that keep
women from achieving the complexion of
their dreams. The main takeaway? It's not
our skin—it's us .
1. Picking
Reminder: You're not a dermatologist and
should not be picking at your pimples,
ingrown hairs, or anywhere else on your
face. It's one of the biggest assaults against
your skin and can have permanent effects.
"The more people press and manipulate
blemishes, the more inflammation they
create underneath," explains Dr. Nazarian.
"The result is scars or discolorations left on
the skin, which can last months, if not
forever."
2. Over-Exfoliating
Your skin can't take too much of a good
thing, especially when it comes to
exfoliating. Dr. Rouleau's advice? Use a
good facial scrub or exfoliating acid—
sparingly. "It can be used seven days on
and seven days off," she says. "During the
days when it is not being used, nourish the
new healthy cells with a great moisturizer
appropriate for your skin type."
3. Over-Washing
Washing is another skin habit that will
suffer from surplus. Don't forget, your skin
is a super delicate organ—be very
particular about what you put on it and how
often you do so.
"Most tend to use harsh soaps that strip
natural oils from their body and disrupt the
ideal pH of their skin," says Dr. Nazarian.
"Chronic over-washing will cause skin to dry
and crack, leaving it prone to infections and
flares of inflammatory conditions like
eczema, and can even highlight signs of
aging, like small wrinkles and lines."
To ensure you're not over-drying your skin,
look to super-hydrating cleansers that gently
clean without destroying the balance of
natural oils.
4. Using the Same Products Year-Round
Your skins needs different things from
season to season. Each change should be a
reminder to re-evaluate your regimen. Here
are Rouleau's recommendations:
Winter: "The focus should be on
moisturization and hydrating
products."
Spring: "Think spring cleaning with
deep pore cleansing and exfoliating
products to revive the skin from the
winter dryness."
Summer: "Focus should be on
protecting skin from the sun with
sunscreen and antioxidants, which have
powerful protective qualities. Products
should be lighter-weight in the spring
and summer since there is more
humidity in the air."
Fall: "Increase exfoliation to repair
the skin from the summer sun damage."
5. Tugging at the Skin Around Your Eye
This is where skin is thinnest, which makes
it the most delicate. And since it's the first
to show signs of aging, be gentle with it!
" Pulling on the skin while putting in
contacts, applying eyeliner, or rubbing
aggressively to remove stubborn eye
makeup can create wear and tear on the
collagen and elasticity fibers, causing visible
lines and wrinkles prematurely," explains
Rouleau. "Always apply eye cream with the
ring finger (it's the weakest) and use a
gentle patting motion to avoid rubbing and
tugging."
6. Tanning and/or Not Wearing Sunscreen
It's no secret that sunning yourself is just
about the worst thing you can do to your
skin. "Every tan, even a slight darkening, is
a sign of skin damage," explains Dr.
Nazarian. "With repeated exposure to UV-
radiation, skin cells can mutate, causing
deadly skin cancers like melanoma. If that
wasn't bad enough, chronic radiation and
tanning also causes signs of skin aging, like
wrinkles, sagging and drooping, brown
spots, and uneven tone."
As far as protection goes, you should be
taking precaution daily if you want to
prevent wrinkles and skin cancer. "Every
day of the year, rain or shine, harmful UV
rays come through windows in your office,
home, or car," says Rouleau. "Make sure
your moisturizer contains a sunscreen, so
you only need to apply one product. Don't
forget, the best anti-aging product in the
world is sunscreen."
7. Smoking
As if you needed another incentive to quit,
just know: Your skin will be so grateful. In
addition to causing premature aging and
wrinkling, it's endangering your health.
"Smoking cigarettes increases your risk of
squamous cell skin cancer, a dangerous skin
cancer that can metastasize and spread if
not caught early," warns Dr. Nazarian.
8. Neglect
Failing to look after your skin, like you
would your teeth or hair, is its own form of
abuse. But just cleansing ain't gonna cut it:
"Washing your face in the morning isn't
quite enough to satisfy your skin-care
quota," explains Dr. Nazarian. "Skin
requires daily moisturizing, daily sun-
protection, and annual monitoring to screen
for skin cancer. Skin cancers can usually be
treated, and cured, if caught early. There's
no excuse for neglecting your health by
skipping your exam."

Shoppers might soon be able to buy products straight from a Google search
In case there weren't already enough easy ways to blow money on the internet, shoppers will soon be able to buy products online without ever leaving a Google search screen, the company's chief business officer announced Wednesday, Re/ code reports.
"There’s going to be a buy button," Omid
Kordestani said at the Code Conference in Palos Verdes, California. "It's going to be imminent."
When a user searches for a product, the buy
button would appear with product ads that
already run alongside search results, BBC reports.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Google's buy button earlier this month.
Google faces instant-buying competition from
Amazon's one-click ordering, as well as Twitter, which started testing a buy button with select groups last September. —TheWeek

Beauty tip- Want Smooth Legs? Don't Commit These Shaving Faux Pas
1. Using hot water. “Hot water mixed with harsh soaps or scrubs strips your skin of its essential oils, leaving it tight, dry, itchy and more prone to nicks and razor burns,” NYC dermatologist Dr. Marnie Nussbaum tells InStyle . Before shaving, soak your legs in warm water for five minutes instead. “It will open the pores and soften the hair for easy removal,” she says.
2. Skipping the shaving cream. Always lather up with a moisturizing shaving cream, unless you’re using a two- in-one razor with a built-in gel bar. Doing so will help you get a closer shave and eliminate skin irritation. Plus, Nussbaum points out, “it also allows you to see where you have already shaved so you won’t repeatedly go over the same area causing inflammation.
So, no, your bar soap won’t cut it. “Traditional soap bars can have a pH of up to 9, leaving skin with a dry, tight feeling,” says Nussbaum. When your pH balances rise, your skin will be more susceptible to things like razor burns and bumps.
3. Not exfoliating. Those annoying ingrown hairs you sometimes get can be avoided with regular exfoliation. Massaging your legs with Body Scrub twice a week will slough off dry skin flakes and work wonders on those who suffer from keratosis pilaris (or small red bumps on the skin).
4. Using a single-blade razor. The more blades you can count, the better. “Using a razor with more blades actually minimizes cuts as the blades are spaced closer together giving a smoother glide and closer shave,”
Just know when to toss it. “A dull blade can cause razor burn, as can pushing down too forcefully on the skin.
5. Borrowing from the boys. Though stealing his shaving cream is fine, using his razor won’t
be as effective. “While they have similar blades,
women’s razors usually have a curvier face to allow gliding over curves,” she says. “They also tend to have more moisturizing strips and a slip free handle to avoid cuts.”
6. Not moisturizing afterwards. “It’s imperative to pat the skin dry and apply a calming, skin protective lotion to lock in moisture and support skin’s barrier function.[Instyle edited]

Khloé Kardashian Under Fire for Dubai Fashion Statement
Khloe Kardashian 's latest fashion
statement is causing quite the stir.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star
posted a picture to her Instagram on
Tuesday featuring her wearing a niqab, a
cloth that covers the face as a part of the
traditional abaya.
Kardashian, who posted the photo during
a recent trip to Dubai, captioned the photo
"Habibi Love." In Dubai, most women
dress according to religious and cultural
customs by wearing an abaya, a loose
over-garment that covers the body from
head to toe. Though it is not required for
visitors, Kardashian decided to take part
on the tradition and share with her fans.
However, according to the post, some fans
aren't exactly happy with the reality star.
"This woman should not be the role model
of anyone especially not for Muslim
women," one Instagram user said.
Another Instagram user said, "She's
disregarding a cultural/religious symbol
by appealing to her own commercial
interest."

5 Things You Should Know About Pedicures
Whether you’re going the DIY route or leaving it to a professional, celebrity manicurist
and Dermelect color curator Elle shares five
important things you should know about pedicures.
1. Extend the life of your pedicure by prepping for nail polish correctly and using a foot scrub once a week. Elle recommends scrubbing nails clean with an antibacterial soap and using Dermelect Immaculate Nail Cleanse prep before applying that base coat.
2. Keep the area in between toes free of moisture — otherwise, it can become a growing ground for fungus and bacteria.
3. Not shaving before a pedicure is a myth. Elle debunks this by raising a good point: “There is no difference between shaving before or after a pedicure. If the products and salon are clean, you are good to go.”
4. Every single tool at a professional nail salon must be properly sanitized and some must even be discarded after one use. “Nail files should always be fresh for each client — in many states it’s the law! Don’t let anyone
use a nail file unless it’s a fresh one from the
beginning,” advises Elle.
5. If you want baby-soft feet, soak them before you file off that excess dead skin. Elle says, “Always file your foot when it is damp, not dry. This will remove skin without making feet rougher.”

THE MODEL DIET: 5 FOOD LESSONS FROM THE RUNWAY
Though models can be called out for looking
too skinny during fashion week, during the
marathon of shows and presentations, these
girls eat (trust us, we see it backstage). Sure,
they want to look fit in crop tops, but
they're also fueling 14-hour days. Our
friends at Cosmo got the scoop on what the
long-legged crew is eating, and here's what
you can learn from it:
Have breakfast: Is this the biggest diet cliche
of all? The fact is, fueling up for a big day is
key for boosting both your energy and your
metabolism.
Juice it up: These girls don't juice in place of
food, but in addition to their meals. Edie
Campbell hydrates with coconut water,
while Georgia May Jagger likes watermelon
juice.
Focus on fat burners: Avocado, salmon, and
coffee are all natural fat-burning foods , and
they appear all over the models' meal plans.
Always be prepared: "I usually carry
granola bars on me in case the catering
sucks," said Suvi Riggs.
Protein, protein, protein: "This food is
disgusting—it's like the Second World War:
so much bread, very little meat!" said
Vasilisa Pavlova of some sub-par catering.
And Anastasia Ivanova? She stopped for a
bacon cheeseburger halfway through Day 3.

Woman who has designed fashion for wheelchair users has won two awards in New York.
Lucy Jones, 23, was voted Womenswear Designer of the Year of Class 2015 at the New York Parsons School of Design's annual fashion benefit.
She also jointly won the Parsons and Kerings
Empowering Imagination contest. Ms Jones said the motivation for her designs came from
a conversation with her cousin, Jake, who has a condition which means half his body is paralysed.
He has hemiplegia and told his cousin about the daily struggle he goes through putting on his own clothes.
"I realised that we, in the fashion industry, need to create more accessible solutions in clothing," Ms Jones said.
Ms Jones has now made it her mission to raise
awareness on the issue of designing for disabilities. She is the first Welsh design student to attend Parsons School of Design, securing her place in 2011 after receiving an award for art excellence and a distinction in
fashion and textiles from Glamorgan University.
"I am thrilled to be named Designer of the Year. Having this accolade from a leading world-wide design school is amazing and I am hoping this will help further my career in design - I can't wait to see what the future holds," she said.
