Beauty Tips- Snail Facials?
Not in Nigeria ofcourse! We don chop am finish to begin use am for beauty treatment? LOL!
So Thailand's latest beauty trend: Snails for younger looking skin. Now, imagine this, one snail is slithering up the bridge of your nose while five others are being stuck onto other parts of your face, all secreting snail slime to hopefully smooth out some wrinkles and otherwise give you a younger-than-your-age look..... This is the latest addition to the global beauty and wellness craze — snail facials. Thailand ranks among the world’s top spa destinations, with massage treatments of every description offered around just about every corner.
Other members of the animal kingdom are also enlisted, including fish at some 4,000 pedicure spas. So is this merely another marketing ploy or an effective way to plump up skin in need of repair or rejuvenation? According to The Globe and Mail, appropriately given the French passion for these Snails, the spa was started last year by two Frenchmen who had imported 100 of them from home. The colony now boasts more than 30,000, munching on chemically free carrots, cabbage and aloe on a certified organic farm. A chosen few get plucked from the farm for duty at the 45-minute Snail Spa Celebrity Course. For $30, it’s a bargain compared to the $200 customers must shell out at Tokyo’s Ci:z.Labo, a beauty salon where snail massage made its debut in 2013. Spas have also opened in China and London, and the French duo are expanding to Bangkok next month.
Given its novelty, Chiang Mai public health inspectors last month descended on the spa to determine whether the treatment was safe and if imported snails officially classified as “alien creatures” — might prove harmful to local species. Results of the investigation have not yet been released. While the facials are new, concoctions made from snail mucus are said to date back to ancient Greece, when the great physician Hippocrates reportedly crushed snails and sour milk as a cure for skin inflammations. In recent times, the French have turned this essence of Snails into assorted creams and lotions. The fluid, exuded by snails when under stress, is known to contain beneficial nutrients and antioxidants, but Bangkok-based Dr. Dissapong Panithaporn and other dermatologists say that there has been no significant scientific research on how these actually work when applied to the skin. Champeyroux, a manager in France’s nuclear power sector before falling in love with Chiang Mai some years
ago, says his all-natural line of snail products, Coquille, acts against burns, acne, stretch marks, scars and aging. Some who have used this treatment said snails helped clear their acne when stressed during studies. Their face gets firmer and softer you don’t get immediate results. It shows gradually.”
Dont know if any spa in Nigeria offers such facial treatment but would you rather eat your snails or enjoy snail facials for a firm and wrinkle free face?

Dear Men, Would You be Caught Dead Wearing Male Leggings??
They were voted the biggest fashion faux pas of last year, but three young designers want 'meggings' -that's male leggings - to become a wardrobe staple this season. Luke Shipley, Joe Hollingworth and Tom Hunt have unveiled a range of meggings, called sTitch Leggings, which they hope will enable men to 'both look great and feel comfortable in leggings.' So convinced are the trio by their brainchild, which came about after they were forced to wear 'ill-fitting female leggings' to a themed party, that they pitched it on Dragon's Den on sunday
Priced at £25 (#5200), sTitch leggings are inspired by celebrities like Russell Brand and Justin Bieber, who both favour meggings for casual daytime wear.

They come in an array of bright designs including rainbow-coloured diamonds and hot pink - and even come complete with back pockets for your valuables.
The founders claim that they are the natural evolution from the skinny jean and the once widespread baggy jean.

Singer John Legend and his model wife Chrissy Teigen are featured in a stylish spread for GQ magazine’s February 2015 issue with the magazine profiling them
as ‘Mayoralty of the City of New York’. According to GQ, ‘The couple—outspoken, high-achieving, à deux eaters of Chipotle in bed—are New Yorkers foremost. Grammy winner Legend is a fifteen-year resident of Lower Manhattan; he wooed model Teigen here when he still lived on the Bowery. And while a lot of famous people (say they) live there, these two are actual residents. They are tiny-restaurant regulars, they are side-street wanderers, they are local-bodega shoppers.’ For their spread, photographed by Anders Overgaard, John & Chrissy look so good together rocking complementary styles and luxury brands.

Daily beauty Tips-What the Ingredients in Your Beauty Products Really Mean
If you’ve ever looked at the ingredients on your favorite facial cleanser or shampoo, you know how overwhelming and hard to decipher they can be. The
difficult-to-read list can sometimes mean turning the other cheek to harmful chemicals, but a really crazy sounding ingredient can often be quite harmless. We’ve enlisted the help of Jeannette Graf, M.D., assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, to help decode the lengthy labels found on beauty products. Once you familiarize yourself
with these ingredients, you’ll find that some are useful and effective, but some may be worth steering clear of.
Hydroquinone
When treating melasma or dark spots, this ingredient is the gold standard. “Hydroquinone is a bleaching agent that is your best bet for fading brown spots.
Hydroquinone also has antioxidant properties and is a component of glucoside arbutin. It is the most effective skin-lightening agent,” says Dr. Graf.
Glycerin
If you’re buying a moisturizer, then definitely be on the lookout for this game-changer for dry skin. “Glycerin is a humectant, a water-attracting moisture magnet which draws moisture into the skin. A moisturizer with glycerin
as an ingredient will be particularly helpful at easing dryness,” says Graf.
Phthalates
“Phthalates are plasticizers — they are used to make plastics softer. They are considered to be no-nos because they are potentially carcinogenic,” says Graf.
We’ve seen this group of chemicals lurking in nail polishes, soaps an hairsprays. Steer clear!
Lycopene
“Lycopene is naturally occurring and is the phytochemical that gives fruits and vegetables their red color. It is also a powerful antioxidant that is more
potent than beta-carotene and lutein,” says Graf. Lycopene has gentle lightening effects and can benefit all skin types, especially those with pigmentation and sun damage.
Sulfates
These detergents are used in cleansing formulas and are very popular in products like shampoo and face wash, which generate a lather (a property of sulfates). They’re actually very harsh and strip the skin of oil, which leads
to loss of hydration or dry, brittle hair. Luckily, many companies are doing away with sulfates, but look out for ingredients ending in sulfate (like sodium lauryl sulfate or ammonium laureth sulfate).
Natural vs. Organic
“The term ‘natural’ is a loose definition that doesn’t mean much when it comes to beauty labels. It doesn’t say anything to its natural side or how it was grown,
whether pesticides were used, etc. Whereas ‘organic’ is much stricter as it speaks to where something is grown and the conditions in which it was grown. Recently, organizations like OASIS (Organic and Sustainable Industry Standards) have been setting the bar on providing standards and promoting products that are organic and sustainable,” says Graf.

Style Trend- How to wear chokers in 2015
Chokers have a long and storied history. Before teenyboppers who read Tiger Beat were tattooing on neon temporaries in the 90s, debutantes in the 40s were showing them off at society luncheons and charity galas. In the 1800s, Alexandra of Denmark was influential in expanding this trend due to her insecurities over a neck scar. She reportedly drew inspiration from traditional Indian dress in Bombay, where she often traveled as the reigning Empress of India. Go even further back, you’ll learn Native Americans wore them to protect their necks and their spirits as well as to symbolize rank..For Spring 2015, designers collectively sparked a revival on the runways in Paris, New York, London and Milan. Ralph Lauren was a standout this season; he created a multi-tiered, bejeweled choker reminiscent of the beautiful bijoux worn by African tribes of yore. Find the best way to rock chockers this season and turn heads wherever you go!
